Getting Here

Where are you located?
Ananda Meditation Retreat is located in the foothills of Sierra Mountains in Northern California. Our forest retreat is off the grid and feels remote, although only 3 miles off a well-traveled road.

Please use and print out the directions listed here. GPS and internet maps are not always correct and phone reception is poor.

Can I charge an electric car there?
Although we don’t have any charging stations at this Retreat, you can charge your vehicle just 6 miles down the road at Ananda Village. The charging station is on the far side of the parking lot near Village reception and Masters Market.

Internet & Cell Service

Cell phone strength is weak between Nevada City and the Retreat, but we have fairly good Verizon and AT&T coverage at the Retreat. We do not have guest wifi, but guests sometimes use their cell phone data plan for that purpose. We also have a hotspot that can be accessed in the Dining Hall building. The charge is $10 for 72 hours.

Dining

Guided Group Retreats
Guests coming for group retreats receive breakfasts, lunches and dinners as part of the program.

Personal Retreats
Personal Retreat guests who stay in cabins with kitchens can bring and prepare their own food. If you would like to add meals to your reservation, please contact us by email or phone 530-478-7557.

  • Breakfast – $10 per person — 8:30am-9:30am
  • Lunch – $15 per person — 12:30pm-1:15pm
  • Dinner – $10 per person — 6:00pm-7:00pm (time may vary slightly)

What to Bring

We recommend bringing the following:

  • Flashlight – important!
  • Water bottle
  • Your own yoga mat, if you have one (we also have yoga mats, pillows and meditation benches for you to use)
  • Journal and pen
  • Uplifting reading material (we also have a small lending library that is open to all guests)
  • Sturdy shoes and sandals (best to bring shoes, boots and sandals that are easily removable since there are no shoes worn in the cabins and temples)
  • Comfortable, casual, modest clothing — dress in layers, as evenings are usually cool even in summertime
  • Food if you are staying in a cabin with a kitchen and prefer to prepare your own meals
  • Optional: Sun hat, sun glasses, sunscreen

Policies

What is your refund/rescheduling policy?
As a small retreat, we try to avoid cancellations because it is difficult for us to fill spaces at the last minute, but we recognize that sometimes emergencies happen.

Our cancellation policy is:

  • Cancellations 7 days or more before arrival date: 50% of the $100 deposit is forfeited and 50% remains as a credit toward another stay within the next year.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days before arrival date: all of the $100 deposit is forfeited.
